SUMMARY:DRAWINGS WEEK 2026 - Face to Face & Exploring the Princeton University Art Museum Drawings Collection
DESCRIPTION:Ahead of the opening of MDNY 2026 we are offering a special opportunity to visit Princeton to explore the Princeton University Art Museum’s new building\, which recently opened to the public on October 31\, 2025. Laura Giles\, Heather and Paul G. Haaga Jr.\, Class of 1970\, Curator of Prints and Drawings\, and Jun Nakamura\, Assistant Curator of Prints and Drawings\, will welcome attendees to the museum to tour their inaugural thematic exhibit\, Face to Face and for a special viewing of highlights from the drawings collection in the study room. \nFace-to-Face Exhibition:  \nVirtual face-to-face interactions have become as commonplace as in-person encounters. Prior to the advent of “moving pictures” in the late nineteenth century\, the human face as a still\, two-dimensional image was often rendered on paper as both unique and reproductive artworks\, ranging from intimate sketches to large print editions. This collections-based exhibition focuses on the universal appeal of the human visage\, both revealed and concealed. Depicted by artists across centuries\, cultures\, and continents and in a wide variety of media\, the faces displayed in spatial conversation with each other provoke issues of identity\, celebrity\, and divinity while positing different modes of engagement\, from gentle intimacy to emotional confrontation.\n__ \nTransportation: \nIf you’d like any guidance regarding transportation options\, please do email us (hello@thedrawingfoundation.org). Or you can visit the museum’s website for more details on public transportation and parking. \n__ \nThis DRAWINGS WEEK 2026 event is organized by The Drawing Foundation and Princeton University Art Museum\, and in association with Master Drawings New York 2026.  \n                             \nImage:\nLeft: Liu Dan 劉丹\, Portrait of a Man\, 2001.
