Jill Newhouse Gallery was founded in 1980 and specializes in 19th and 20th century European and American works on paper. Since 2007, the gallery has been located in a townhouse across the street from the Metropolitan Museum, where an inventory of high quality works by important artists is regularly on view. The gallery’s program has included regular monographic exhibitions with illustrated catalogues of the works of artists such as Bonnard, Corot, Delacroix, Géricault, Millet, Redon, Rodin, and Vuillard. These works are often shown in tandem with that of contemporary artists such as Cecily Brown, Peter Doig, Wolf Kahn, Damien Hirst, Gerard Mossé, Graham Nickson, Dorothea Rockburne, and Kikuo Saito in order to demonstrate the gallery’s core belief that art of all periods is connected in the expression of humanity’s most important themes, thereby connecting viewers of all ages and interests.
